Caretta’s Beauty and the Beast-Inspired Illumination
If you’re a fan of Disney movies we’re pretty sure you’ve heard of “The Beauty and the Beast”, a magical tale of courage, acceptance, and selflessness. We recently relived it on screen but Shiodome Shopping Complex had something more brilliant in mind. The gigantic shopping and dining center decided to bring the famous Beauty and the Beast banquet hall off screen for everyone to enjoy.
The annual Illumination event organized by the Shiodome Shopping Complex takes inspiration from the magical Disney movie during their 12th year of celebration.
What to Expect
The spectacle of lights runs from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM daily. The Illumination begun on November 16, 2017 and extends until February 18, 2018. Here are the things you can expect from the 60-day light display.

As Shiodome complex recreates the romantic banquet hall setting from the film, you’ll see a yellow Christmas-tree figure in the middle of the display. This represents “Belle” in her yellow gown. The gown that she wore during the dance with the cursed Prince Adam. Naturally, you’ll see hints of blue lights spread across the exhibit to symbolize the Prince.
At the bottom of the sacred “Belle” tree you’ll find the “Enchanted Rose”, the mystical flower from the film.
Led lights and artificial candles successfully bring in the romantic vibe, making the Illumination event the perfect stroll-worthy venue for hopeless romantics!
Taking it up a notch, lights dance to the beat of the movie’s original music.
Although the Illumination goes on until the 3rd week of February, it’ll be closed during the New Year’s and the day after (January 1-2, 2018).
Shiodome shopping complex is pretty easy to get to. The entertainment and shopping hub is a 5-minute car ride from Shiodome Interchange.
If you’re coming from Haneda Airport, you can take a 30-minute train ride going to Shimbashi Station via the Keikyu Line. Once you get off Shimbashi, the complex is a 3-minute walk from there.
