Chinese Farmer Gets Big Surprise When He Adopts a Stray Pup
When you encounter a puppy in the streets, your reaction is probably “aww, how cute!” Even if you don’t say it out loud.
If that same puppy is a stray and perhaps malnourished, you might do your best to take it home and look after it to get it back on its feet. You might even play all day with the cuddly creature.
That’s probably what this unnamed farmer had in mind. Or maybe he had it in his mind to raise the pup to be an intimidating watchdog. Either way, he did not hesitate to adopt the stray.
Life went on. Keeping busy nurturing and playing with the pup made the weeks pass by quickly, but not without occasionally raising suspicion and the thought “this dog is weird.”
Why, you may ask?
Well, this ‘pup’ was growing freakishly big in so little time, had huge front paws, and no tail. The farmer, from the Yunnan province, eventually caught on and realized he had a bear in his custody.
Who doesn’t want a bear though? Even though we’ve seen what look like domesticated bears, they are still wild and belong in the wild.
The farmer, knowing what the right thing to do was called up wildlife officials who confirmed the suspicion. Specifically, the astonished man had an Asian black bear in his hands, recognizable thanks to the patch of fur on its chest.
These bears are an endangered species, often hunted by poachers because they are considered a delicacy and used as ingredients in the preparation of traditional medicine.
Currently, the bear is in an animal breeding shelter, where it will learn to survive conditions that help it survive in the wild.
