A quick look at the Instagram accounts of daredevil skyscraper climbers Vadim Makhorov(click to see video of the climb) and Vitaliy Raskalov would leave you shaking your head in amazement, shock and fear at the extreme recklessness of the friends’ adventures.
After the pair posted photos of their arrival in South Korea, security was increased at the construction site of the soon to be fifth largest skyscraper in the world, the Lotte World Tower,.
The site was guarded by 400 security officers, day and night, and mug shots of the men were posted around the site, including at all entrances. The increased security efforts were unable to stop the determined duo who travel around the world in search of the world’s highest free climbs Photos posted on social media show the view from the top of the 123-story structure.
Security was unable to determine how the pair managed to evade all 400 officers and claim that security footage of the site has revealed no hints. Hopefully, the answer will be determined in an video of the incident which is expected to be seen soon. The site hopes to stop similar situations occurring in the future.
Far from being impressed, many South Koreans have lashed out at the pair, calling them reckless and irresponsible. One Instagram user commented, “Safety is the utmost importance at a construction site. He is thoughtless to be doing this without safety measure.”
The pair had been Instagram famous for some time, but was thrown into the world spotlight for the first time when they were able to climb the heavily guarded Great Pyramids in Egypt in 2013. Vadim has also conquered Cologne Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame in Paris as well as the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
