Japan is known for a lot of things and one of those is their continuing legacy of manufacturing high-quality, robust vehicles. As you  may all know, Japan is home to automotive giants like Honda, Toyota, Suzuki, Nissan, Mistubishi, Mazda, and Subaru—each boasting impressive exteriors and superb driving performance. But there are times we all want to break away from the norm and go a little crazy, right? Automotive manufacturers feel the same way, too. And there’s no better place to see all kinds of crazy—than in Japan.

We’re talking about the Tokyo Auto Salon, an annual motor exhibit that showcases customized, modified, and dressed-up cars for full-on car enthusiasts and regular tourists alike. Think crossbreeds, Hybrids on steroids, funky concept cars armed with more than aesthetics!

The event runs from January 12 to 14 and is held at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex in Chiba City. The first day of the event is strictly for trade show participants, members of the media, and premium ticket holders. Since the event follows a stringent schedule, public viewing is only allowed on the 13th and the 14th between 9:00am – 7:00pm and 9:00am – 5:00pm, consecutively.

Without further ado, here is a list of things that make the Tokyo Auto Salon a different level of awesome!
