The concept of entertainment via virtual reality (VR) is appealing. You can slip on a pair of VR goggles and escape into a reality very different from your everyday environment.
It can be exciting and adventurous to enter into a three-dimensional, computer-generated fantasy that you can explore and interact with. You can manipulate things in this virtual universe and even perform actions. What a great escape from your everyday doldrums.
It’s the three-dimensional nature of virtual reality that makes it all seem so real. Images seem to be life-sized. And as you move your eyes, the environment changes according to your change in perception. And nothing from your environment seeps in to mar the experience.
Virtual reality isn’t only for entertainment, though. For example, when fighter pilots train, you wouldn’t want them practicing on living beings. No, they train via virtual reality. Same for surgeons.
But the average consumer’s focus will be mostly on entertainment – to become immerses in another reality via a movie or a video game. Leave the stress of everyday life and pick what you want your reality to be.
Sounds great, doesn’t it? But hold on.
VR headsets bring a completely new level of entertainment to us. But those headsets can be so big and heavy that it’s not enjoyable to wear them for very long. Besides that, the expense has put them out of range of the average buyer.

Manufacturers actually made VR headsets out of cardboard to make them lighter and less expensive, but the cardboard absorbs sweat and quickly becomes very uncomfortable.
Chinese manufacturers are coming to the rescue. Determined to be the major influence on VR technology of the future, they are currently working on the technological breakthroughs needed to solve the problems associated with current VR headsets. They plan to make them less expensive and lighter. In fact, the goal is to make them more like a regular pair of glasses. That’d be a real feat.
Reaching these goals is still a few years away, but just think – soon you won’t have to think up your own daydreams to ease your stress. You’ll just need to put on your VR headset and enter a world where your problems don’t exist.
